Sometimes Living A Happy And Healthy Life Takes A Little Effort

Mick Jagger I Was Shocked He Lived This Long, Until

I’m sure by now everyone has heard about Mick Jiggers’ heart problem and surgery. It seems that the 75 year old rock star needed to have one of his heart valves replaced, we find out it is a pretty simple procedure.

The American Heart Association website defines TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement) as a minimally invasive surgical procedure that repairs the valve without removing the old, damaged valve. Instead, it wedges a replacement valve into the aortic valve’s place. The surgery may be called a TAVR or transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).

Here’s how it works; somewhat similar to a stent placed in an artery, the TAVR approach delivers a fully collapsible replacement valve to the valve site through a catheter. Once the new valve is expanded, it pushes the old valve leaflets out of the way and the tissue in the replacement valve takes over the job of regulating blood flow.

I’m gonna be honest with you, when I first heard about it my first thought was, “How did he last this long.”  I mean let’s face it, the Rolling Stones are well known for their fast and loose life style, drugs, booze and women was the kind of life they were famous for.

But you can imagine my shock and disbelief when I read that Mick Jagger was actually a health nut, a little like me. It seems that Mr. Jagger gave up his evil ways and saw the light to become a healthy guy, by living a happy and healthy lifestyle, I would have never believed it.

I was watching some doctor on TV explaining how he was in perfect health for this kind of procedure, which shocked the hell out of me. But according to this doctor he gave up all the smoking, drugs and alcohol years ago, he runs 6 miles a day and has a workout routine that he does 5- 6 times a week, that’s even more than I do.

So what does this tell you, that you are never too old to change your lifestyle and become a happy & healthy individual? This is the perfect story for why I started my blog, to show people that it’s never too late to start taking better care of yourself. I myself lived a fast & loose lifestyle in my younger day, but I saw the light.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard those words, “I’m too old to start anything new.”  All that tells me is that person doesn’t really want to change; I admit change is sometimes hard, even uncomfortable but anything worthwhile usually is. You can do it if you really want too.
