Staying Happy And Healthy

Let’s face it, as we get older our body changes, our metabolism slows down, we put on weight and we get things like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and a lot of other things that only our grandparents got, now we get them.

But so many of these things are preventable if we just put a little effort into certain areas of our life. I know sometimes as we get older we get set in our ways and it’s not easy to break our daily routine and it becomes harder to stay happy and healthy.

That’s why I started this site. Let me introduce myself: My name is Chris Vaca, I am over 65 years old, I’m 6ft. 2in. tall and weigh 175 lbs. I take no prescription medications what so ever, but I do take vitamins and supplements, and I don’t have to get up in the middle of the night to pee. Now for those of you who get up 2-3 times a night, you know what a blessing that is. I have to say I’m a happy and healthy guy, but it wasn’t that long ago I wasn’t happy or healthy.

How I Got Here

I think it’s only fair that I give you a little background information about myself. I’m not gonna go too far back, but I will tell you I was born and raised in New York City.

More recently it was about 9 or 10 years ago I lost my Mortgage Business because of the great housing meltdown. Losing just about everything I had I knew it was sink or swim time, I was 57 at the time. You can read the full story here.

Trying to reinvent yourself at 57 is not an easy thing to do, but like I said I knew it was sink or swim. After hours, weeks and months of frustration I made a splash on the internet. I eventually started a web site called Over 50 And Broke where I tried to help others in the same situation I was in.

After that grew legs I tried my hand at writing, I self-published 8 books on Amazon. As I grew older I became more health-conscious and I dived into health and nutrition. I noticed people my age even younger were out of shape and couldn’t do many things for long without becoming out of breath. Mostly it was due to their own lack of effort to stay healthy.

This brings me up to the present time and why I started this site. Staying happy and healthy in your Golden Years takes effort, a lot at first then a little to remain happy & healthy.
