How Much Weight Should You Lose For The New Year?

Sometimes Living A Happy And Healthy Life Takes A Little Effort

How Much Weight Should You Lose For The New Year?

The biggest New Years Resolutions for people is to lose weight. I guess it’s because after gouging themselves over the holidays, you know the time between Thanksgiving and New Year, they look in the mirror or have a hard time buttoning their pants, and guilt sets in. But what is the right weight and how much should you lose?

There are certain guidelines that you can go by but they are only guidelines and don’t apply to all. Every 5′ 8″ person doesn’t necessarily have to weigh the same, we all have our comfort levels.

Story: When I was in my 20’s I used to box for the YMCA, I was always a light heavyweight, but I wanted to be a heavyweight. So I gained 20 pounds and became a heavyweight. But I felt very uncomfortable at that weight and I wasn’t as fast with my hands as I was as a light heavyweight. But there were guys my height even smaller who fought as heavyweights, and they had no problems with their weight.

So the point is everyone is different, and everything is not gonna work the same for each individual.

I have written an article a while back that you should develop your own exercise routine.

As well as different diets to watch out for.

Also the importance of regimentation in your life.

I provided a chart below to use as a guide, remember it is only a guide, something to shoot for. Maybe when you hit your ideal weight on the chart you still might feel uncomfortable and feel you need to lose a little more, then do it. Or you might hit that weight and feel you need to add a few extra pounds, then do it. You are the final judge when you feel comfortable in your skin that’s it. But don’t stray too far from the chart, losing too much or adding too much can be unhealthy.

Remember I was once a fatty myself.
